Hi, my blog is a record of our year(ish) long tour of Europe, an idea sprung on me by my husband last year. A word of warning to anyone reading this who doesn't know me, I have an inability to use one word when a hundred will do, in fact this blog is the antithesis of Twitter! It also includes EXTENSIVE use of the words beautiful, pretty, nice, gorgeous, tasty, lovely and wonderful amongst others! I'll attempt to use some different words occasionally to ring the changes.
Journey to Tosla
The terrain changed to ‘lumpy’ stone mountains
We travelled through mountain villages built of stone
Along roads cut through the mountains
And roads winding around them, such varied landscapes.
Little did we know what was in store for us a bit further along this road.
Has this driver also pulled over to recover from the same treatment?
This is more like it. All is good in our world again.
So wonderful to see these Griffon Vultures riding on the thermals.
I love tunnels.
Shouldn’t the be ‘Allo, ‘Allo?
This area is so lush and green.
Unbeknownst to us our SAT NAV had rerouted us through a National Park, beautiful but unexpected.
Yet another sharp bend in the road, is that a memorial to all the people who haven’t quite made it round the corner!
Hair pin bend coming up!
Such beautiful views.
That’s the road we just drove down, can you spot the monument?
Ooh! Is that windy enough for you?
View point?
Yup that’s a hair pin bend alright!
Finally found a place to take a photo of the amazing view.
Noooo! The view is disappearing!
Lizarraga, Navarre, the village at the bottom of the mountain road.
Another pretty, holey tunnel like my favourite tunnel in Norway..
Make the most of this scene because it’s all about to change.
Getting a bit busier.
And now we hit the industrial area.
Ooh, it’s not all bad, we’ve found a posh tunnel.
We’re entering Basque Country.
On our journey to Tolosa via Estella we saw cloud topped mountains
Flocks of sheep
Valleys
Forests
A tunnel cut into the rolling hills
A rather basic tunnel, but it’s doing its job, can’t ask much more than that!
