22nd February – 28th February 2017. England.
We left the van at SP Parking, there were some brilliant painted vans parked opposite us.
We had a good flight home, our son Gethan collected us from the airport and we took my step-mum out for afternoon tea. Then Gethan drove us all to Darren’s parents house where we had a lovely stay for a few days. Gethan kindly drove us around for the whole week. While we were in the UK we all celebrated my mother in law Shirley’s birthday, spent some time with my sister in law Paula and got to know our great niece Lauren, she’s very cute, it’s amazing how small children can help take your mind off bad things to come. We were treated to a gorgeous meal by our friends Janet and Paul and a yummy afternoon tea by my friend Margaret.
On the 27th February we left my in-laws house and drove down to Chelwood Gate where I’d booked accommodation. The lady who ran the ‘Hideaway’ was very helpful and arranged for us to stay even though they were away themselves until late that evening. I hope we can go and stay there under happier circumstances, it was so peaceful and the owners had included so many nice touches, including an umbrella which they’d placed beside the front door. Morgan drove down in the evening, it was lovely to spend some time with our boys, we missed having Austyn there as well.
My lovely Dad’s funeral took place in a beautiful little Victorian chapel with sun streaming through the stained glass windows, as a former architect he would have appreciated the architecture. He’s going to be greatly missed.
We flew back to Spain the following day, it was hard to leave both my Dad, our families and our friends.
