2nd February 2017. San Jose and Cabo de Gata, Spain.

Sleeping in our van last night was like sleeping in a boat on a stormy sea (although nowhere near as stormy as the seas our fearless friends Claire, Paul and Sophie encountered whilst sailing across the Atlantic in their yacht Aditi a couple of years ago) consequently I was up and about ready to photograph the sunrise this morning.  It was a bit breezy walking around outside but the sky was beautiful.

My lovely husband had prepared breakfast when I returned and we were eating breakfast as Steve and Jane left to hunt for a gas bottle.  They had run out of gas which caused their fridge to stop working.

It was a dull and overcast day so we set off to explore San Jose.  It was a pretty town but deserted due to the rubbish weather.

We parked in the aire and had a quick walk around the town, along the sea front and up to the harbour, we had intended having a coffee but the cafes by the harbour were just setting up and as we felt a spot of rain we decided to go back to the van and move on to the aire at Cabo de Gata.

We arrived back at the aire just as a few more spots of rain hit us but as we headed across the parking area we heard someone knocking and looked across to see Jane and Steve’s van parked with Jane waving at us.  It seems they’d just arrived having finally tracked down a replacement gas bottle which meant they could at last have their first cup of tea of the day.  We ended up having tea together and chatted until the rain stopped then we left them so they too could go and explore San Jose.

We drove to the aire at Cabo de Gata and got on with chores for the rest of the day.
