July 2018

In July we flew to Budapest with Darren’s sister Paula.  We stayed in an apartment block that looked very austere from the outside, there was even a tiny lift where we had to pull a metal shutter across before it would move.  However inside the apartment it was another story all together.  It had been decorated beautifully and the view out of the lounge window was of a museum housed in a very fancy building.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip, particularly to the Fisherman’s Bastion.  I had no idea there were so many superb buildings to see in Budapest, the architecture was stunning.  We stumbled across Vajdahunyad Castle on our last day, it was a 10 minute walk from our apartment just past Heroes Square.

We also had some wonderful meals while we were here.

We celebrated our Mum’s 80th birthday in July, I had spent a number of months compiling a book full of memories and photos of our Mum.  Darren found a printer who made three copies for me.  We celebrated with a lovely afternoon tea with our family at Joanne’s Tea Room, it was a wonderful afternoon and Mum was thrilled with her book.
